BEFORE "THE GOOSE GIRL"

Hello, friends. Welcome to my space.

This time, I give you a review for Brambles by Intisar Khanani. This is a prequel to Thorn. Previously, I already posted a review for Thorn, here is the link if you want to check it out: The New "Goose Girl".

Brambles by Intisar Khanani

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Publishing date: December 7, 2020

Synopsis:

In the kingdom of Adania, everyone knows what Princess Alyrra did to earn the court's contempt, her mother's disdain, and her brother's hatred.

She betrayed her own.

Yet, the truth hides another story, one of honor and honesty, of a princess gambling her own life for another's. It's a tale of courage and consequences, and a choice that can never be undone.

A short story prequel to her multi-starred fantasy, Thorn, Intisar Khanani's "Brambles" gives Alyrra's account of what really happened all those years ago, and how a few critical days turned her life into a daily fight for survival.

My rating: ★★★★★

Brambles is a short story prequel to Thorn which is the first book in The Dauntless Path series. It tells you about the reason why Valka, also Alyrra's brother and mother hate Alyrra.

I love it! While Thorn feels too fairytale-ish, Brambles feels more original and alive. This story does not just give you the background story of Valka and Alyrra, it also gives you a hint about Alyrra's kingdom. How the situation there, the court, the people, how the queen rules her kingdom. In Thorn the only political intrigue you are going to find is the one from Kestrin's kingdom. So, it is fun getting to know more about the Dauntless Path's world.

If you consider reading it, you can get it for free from google play. HAPPY READING, FRIENDS!
